Generous Justin?
Have you seen that video of Justin Bieber? (No, not his new Mistletoe music video.)
This one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YesUywDQfjU
Watch it before you continue reading.
But continue reading. Don't get sucked into browsing YouTube. :)
One of my friends (who's idol is Justin Bieber) was trying to convince me how amazing he is, and used this video as an example of how "generous" and "kind" he is. How he's "living his faith".
(If he even has faith, I thought.)
Seeing the video made me think for a second, maybe I've misjudged him. But I only thought that for a second (literally). I quickly reverted back to my original judgement of him, because of some verses I thought of from Matthew:

Seeing the video made me think for a second, maybe I've misjudged him. But I only thought that for a second (literally). I quickly reverted back to my original judgement of him, because of some verses I thought of from Matthew:
“Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.
Thus,
when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the
hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.
But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you."
~Jesus, in Matthew 6:1-4
Think about what those verses said. Was Justin being a hypocrite, giving to be seen by people, or was he earning rewards from his Father in heaven by giving secretly?
I think the answer to that question is obvious.
He didn't choose to give in secret (and make just as big an impact on those kids by the way), and be rewarded by his heavenly Father.
He chose publicity. He chose to "practice righteousness" in front of cameras, to be seen by his fans. And he knew what he was doing.
God doesn't consider public acts of righteousness worth much.
Whoops, did I say that? What I meant to say was, God doesn't consider public acts of righteousness worth anything. The only reward Justin's gonna get is his fans (that are 99% girls) screaming in his face.
And let's face it, Justin's full of himself. Watch his movie.
There's professing you're a Christian, and then there's living out that profession. That's when people take your faith seriously.
Having said that...
I think Justin Bieber is a joke.
OUT.

Rethink Love
So, I've been thinking lately.
The word "love" is dramatically and incorrectly overused these days. It's getting to a point of ridiculousness.
You know what, I had a whole entry planned out, but. . .this guy says it so good, I decided to let him tell ya for me.
Ladies and gentlemen, introducing. . . . .
(He asked me not to give you his real name, and I promised. Sorry.)

You're Only Fifteen
So, I've been thinking lately.
(About a certain thing.)
I have several (really good) friends who when I talk to about some
special young man I might be interested in, when I share my dreams, my
thoughts about him, about me, about him-and-me, or maybe about the
possibility or desire for him-and-me in the future, or just about my general
hopes for my future (as far as a guy goes), most of them say the same thing:
"You're only fifteen."
(Usually following or followed by, "Whoa, hold on", or, "Slow down, Emily")
....What does that mean?
Or rather, what is it supposed to
mean? 'Cause, if you take out the "only", what you've got left is,
"You're fifteen". And you don't have to be smart to know what that means. (It means I've been alive for fifteen years).
But insert the "only" and it means something different.
Speaking in terms of age, "only fifteen".....as opposed to a more advanced age? In other words, too young, right? Sounds like it to me.
Too young for what?
Too young to think? About what? About that stuff I talked to you about? Guys? Certain character traits in a young man I'm attracted to? Relationships? Courtship? Marriage?
Well, ok, when do you propose I start thinking about these things? When I'm.....sixteen? That's not too far off.
When a young man comes along who wants to get to know me for a certain reason? If I haven't thought before that, how do I know what to do?
On my wedding day? What marriage lasts (or even happens) when you start thinking the day you get married. I'm guessing it'll end up in shambles.
But my marriage to my future husband won't. Because I'm thinking now. And I'm praying, and I believe that the Lord is also leading him to start thinking and praying about his future (and his future wife, me). Praying about what he wants in his future wife, and the second most important decision he'll ever make in life: marriage (the first being accepting Christ as his Savior).
I'm not only fifteen.
I'm fifteen. I'm at an age where I believe God is leading me not to start, but rather continue thinking and praying about the second most important decision I'll ever make in my life, and letting him guide and guard my heart through it all.
I encourage all you young girls to start thinking as well. Let God guide your thoughts instead of letting the world tell you what to think. (That's really important).
And pray. Tell God what you want in your future husband, and ask Him to start preparing his heart for you. Tell him your thoughts and your dreams. And don't be discouraged by the wait. Don't let yourself be anxious about how long it takes and when it will happen. Just trust the Lord completely and give your heart to him fully until He brings along that special young man that will help Him take care of it.
Philippians 4:6-7 (ESV)
God bless,
~Emily
